DESCRIPTION

Butyl acrylate is a clear, colorless liquid with a sharp characteristic odor. It is very slightly soluble in water and is less dense than water. As an ester of acrylic acid, butyl acrylate serves as a raw material in the synthesis of polymers. It is a monofunctional monomer, notable for its high reactivity, characterized by an acrylate group and a cyclic hydrophobic group. Copolymers of butyl acrylate can be synthesized with various other compounds, including (meth)acrylic acid and its salts, amides, esters, methacrylates, acrylonitrile, maleic acid esters, vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride, styrene, butadiene, unsaturated polyesters, and drying oils. Butyl acrylate is a versatile feedstock for chemical syntheses due to its capacity to readily undergo addition reactions with a wide variety of organic and inorganic compounds.
