DESCRIPTION

Methyl Isobutyl Carbinol (MIBC) is a colorless, stable organic liquid with a mild alcoholic odor and a medium evaporation rate. It is a derivative of acetone, characterized by its slight solubility in water and excellent miscibility with most organic solvents. MIBC plays a crucial role in various industries, including mining, where it is used as a foaming agent to separate valuable minerals from waste. In lubricant oil production, it serves as a chemical intermediate for the synthesis of zinc dialkyldithiophosphate. Additionally, in the coatings industry, MIBC acts as a latent solvent to help reduce viscosity and adjust cure rates. It is also a versatile solvent for dyes, stains, nitrocellulose, ethylcellulose lacquers, ester gums, natural resins, phenolics, and waxes.
