Hydroxypropyl Acrylate (HPA) is a clear, colorless liquid with a slight acrylic odor. It features a polymerizable acrylate functional group at one end and a reactive hydroxyl group at the other. HPA is readily miscible with water and most organic solvents, and has relatively low volatility. It copolymerizes easily with a wide variety of monomers, imparting properties such as hydrophilicity, improved adhesion to substrates, and resistance to chemicals, fogging, and scratching. Additionally, it offers crosslinking sites, low VOCs, and enhanced weatherability. This chemical is commonly used as an acrylic acid ester in the manufacturing of polymers and as a feedstock for various syntheses. The hydroxyl groups in HPA enhance its performance in applications requiring durability and resistance, making it valuable in protective coatings, adhesives, and materials that must endure harsh environmental conditions.
