CAS: 144-62-7
A strong chelating organic compound plant, fungus and lichen are abundantly produce in a lot of different variety. It forms stable complexes with metal ions (ordinarily big hard ones) that it binds to, allowing it for use in some very useful ways like rust-removing and mining minerals. Oxalic acid is the only dicarboxylic acid that can produce stable complexes with calcium, iron and magnesium. Used for centuries in agriculture, manufacturing and cleaning industry due to its chelating action.

Applications in Agriculture
Oxalic acid is a very important compound in agriculture especially for pest control and soil quality improvement. It is applied in beekeeping, to be able to stabilize the Varroa mite that infects bees and in general helping healthy colonies. Furthermore, oxalic acid is able to release a few minerals and heavy metals that allow soil nutrients to be absorbed by plants.
Applications in Other Industries
● Construction: Used to clean masonry, remove rust, and treat metal surfaces.
● CASE: It is a chemical intermediate used in making coatings and adhesives.
● Pharmaceutical: Applied in the synthesis of antibiotics and other medical compounds.
● Hygiene & Industrial Cleaning: Integral in rust removers and surface treatment formulations.
● Textile industry: Used as a bleaching agent and in stain removal.
● Metallurgy: Used in metal cleaning, especially to remove rust stains or residues on metals such as stainless steel.
