DESCRIPTION
Sodium Formate is a colorless, basic sodium salt obtained from the reaction of formic acid with sodium hydroxide or carbonate. This compound has a wide range of industrial applications, including as a reducing agent for precious metals, a pH buffer, and a reagent for detecting phosphorus and arsenic. It is also used as a mordant in textile and leather tanning processes, in the production of sodium hydrosulfite, and in printing processes. Additionally, it serves as a food additive and can be derived as a byproduct of caustic soda production.
