DESCRIPTION

Ortho Para Toluene Sulfonamide (OPTSA) is a white crystalline powder composed of a blend of ortho-toluene sulfonamide and para-toluene sulfonamide. It is primarily used as a plasticizer in various industries to enhance the stability, flexibility, salt resistance, and flow properties of resins. OPTSA is commonly employed in the production of melamine resins, thermosetting resins, laminating resins, and thermoplastics. In addition to its use as a plasticizer, OPTSA is utilized in the manufacturing of dyes, pigments, hot-melt adhesives, coatings, and even as a brightener in nickel-plating formulations. Other notable properties include its role as an antistatic agent in polyamides and its moderate fungicidal activity. OPTSA is produced by reacting p-toluenesulfonyl chloride and o-toluenesulfonyl chloride with ammonia water.
