DESCRIPTION

n-Butyl Propionate is a colorless liquid with a fruity aroma, reminiscent of apple or pear. It is less dense than water, and its vapor is 4.5 times denser than air at sea level. This ester is primarily used as a solvent in environmentally cured lacquers and coatings, as its slow evaporation rate promotes smooth flow and leveling. It also serves as a letdown solvent, enhancing the handling, storage, and shipping of various resins. Additionally, it acts as a substitute for xylene in coating applications, such as high-solids thermoset enamels, and is an effective solvent for high-solids acrylic resins. Moreover, n-Butyl Propionate is utilized in the production of perfumes and flavorings.
