DESCRIPTION

Methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) is a colorless, viscous, and highly hygroscopic organic compound with a mild ammoniacal odor. Widely recognized as the most commonly used gas-treating agent, MDEA is primarily employed to remove hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) and carbon dioxide (CO₂) from natural gas streams. Its low vapor pressure and resistance to thermal and chemical degradation ensure efficient performance, reducing operating costs during absorption and regeneration processes. MDEA also plays a key role as a chain extender in the synthesis of polyol-based polyurethane foams and elastomers.
