DESCRIPTION
Deionized water (DI water) is water that has had most of its ions, such as minerals and salts, removed through an ion exchange process. This is done by passing water through a tank containing resin beads that attract and remove ions with opposite charges. Deionized water is essential in various industries due to its high purity. It is commonly used in medical applications, microelectronics, fire-extinguishing systems, and as a dielectric fluid in μ-WEDM processes. Unlike distilled water, which removes contaminants based on boiling points, deionized water specifically targets and removes electrically charged particles.
