Trichloroisocyanuric acid (TCCA) is a versatile compound with a wide range of applications, including water disinfection and fabric treatment. It is more effective than sodium hypochlorite in eliminating bacteria, making it essential in environments such as restaurants, hotels, and medical facilities like hospitals worldwide. TCCA is a strong oxidizer and chlorinating agent, appearing as a white crystalline powder or granular solid with a potent chlorine odor. It has minimal corrosion on stainless steel but is more corrosive to brass compared to carbon steel. TCCA is a chlorinated isocyanic acid product used primarily as a disinfectant and bleach. It contains 2 to 3 times more active chlorine than traditional bleaching powders. The compound is stable and convenient to use, offering high sterilization and bleaching power while releasing effective chlorine in water. TCCA is widely utilized in industrial water treatment, pool sanitation, and food processing. It is also used in textiles for bleaching various fibers, and in rubber production. Its broad application extends to organic synthesis, where it is used to produce resins, coatings, and other materials.
