Huntsman Disruption Delays Operations for PG, MTBE, and PO

In an update to their ongoing operational issues, a subsequent letter has just been posted detailing the Huntsman disruption which is delaying plant operations in Port Neches, Texas. As previously reported, there’s no definitive timetable on commencing normal operations. However, the estimated timeline is for partial plant operations to resume 4 weeks from the initial disruption.

Today’s report on the Huntsman disruption further details specific materials that will be significantly impacted by this disruption, most notably Propylene Glycol (PG), Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether (MTBE), and Propylene Oxide (PO). Under the current circumstances, the supply and allocation for these products is cut by upwards of 50%.

GreenChem has close eyes on this developing situation and will provide further updates as soon as more details are made known. In the meantime, please find the latest statement from Huntsman below:

We are continuing to evaluate the impact this even is having on Huntsman’s ability to manufacture and deliver products and the duration of same. However, we want to assure you that we are taking all reasonable measure to mitigate the impact on our operations and your business, consistent with Huntsman’s commitment to safety for our employees and the communities in which we operate.

We sincerely regret the impact that this situation could have on our value customers’ businesses and thank you for your patience during this difficult period.
